Solar eclipse in Littlefield, AZ - on May 20th, 2012

You don't see Solar eclipse very often so we decided to drive about an hour and half North from Las Vegas to get inside the path of this past Sunday's event. I didn't know exactly what to expect, I didn't have the best equipment but I was going to try...
My husband was a good sport, we brought our boys and hoped for the best;) I couldn't believe what I was seeing through our welding glass!;) I tried to capture the eclipse every few minutes - as I said - we didn't have a plan.
The darkness, the strange colors, the temperature drop were amazing!!!! I am so happy we left Vegas because we got to experience the full ring of fire!! I will get better organized and equipped for the next one in a few years, until then this is what I got - and you know what??? I love it!!!!!!!!!!

This image shows the way it was happening, the Sun was setting in this exact direction and the eclipse ended as the Sun was setting behind the mountains.

So excited I got to see this!!!!!

When I clicked my camera I wondered what the thing that I saw move in front of me was.... Didn't photoshop it in there, promise...

My 5 "on the wall" images...

Another semester is over, another portrait class is behind me. I must say this one was quite hard and I learned more than in any other class before. I was very nervous because at the end of our class we had four of Vegas photographers come to judge our work. They chose 35 images to be displayed on the walls of our campus. Let me just say that I was praying for ONE out of the 206!!!! I ended up with 6!!!! I couldn't be happier! Here are 5 of them...

Thank you everyone for your help!!!!!!! I would be nowhere without you!!!!

Michelle and her beautiful doggie was #2 out of the whole class.

This image was #3.

This one was #6.

I love this image!
And this one is on there too - with Starbucks cup and all!!!;)

How I shot my self portrait - in honor of my son Matthew

This is going to be pretty emotional to write. I lost my baby boy Matthew in September. He was born extremely premature and died after a hard 50 days fight in the hospital. I miss him every second of every day, I think about him all the time and I pray for him to come to me in my dreams every single night.

I decided to create something in his honor for my Female Character assignment in my Portrait class. At first I wanted to do something with one of the outfits we had for him but I wasn't sure how and I couldn't get the image I wanted so I started playing with the mirror, the M necklace that I have and the NICU bracelet that I still can't part with...

I must say mirror angles are not easy, self portraits are hard enough but when you add a corner in a mirror and you have to be exactly placed in there, well that's another story and a few more shots...

On the 6 months anniversary of his death I cut my hair and donated it to Locks of Love. I was so happy to receive the Certificate, they are very picky about hair they accept and I was afraid that mine wasn't good enough. I cut 11.5 inches off. I get highlights on my hair so I could only use the bottom untreated uncolored portion. I hope it will help some sweet child somewhere in the world...

For my image I had my friend take a photo of my long hair from the back and then took my own photo in the mirror with my short hair. I replaced the back part of myself with the long hair picture and placed my hand in a way that my bracelet would be visible.

I must say that I love this picture, it means a lot to me. My son will forever be in my heart and I will do and create many other things in his name. I love you, Maddy, I will love you forever and ever!
